Nurturing Families Certified Facilitators work directly with families, children, and youth to guide discussions that foster self-discovery and growth. Facilitators model the Nurturing Families values and philosophy throughout their work.

Certification Process

To become certified, facilitators must complete an 18-hour training conducted by Nurturing Families Certified Trainers.
Facilitators must:

Maintain Certification

Facilitators are responsible for keeping their contact information up to date and staying current on program updates by visiting the Nurturing Families Center website.

Recertification Conference

Facilitators must attend the Annual Recertification and Fidelity Conference before continuing practice. These events are hosted only by Nurturing Families Certified Trainers or approved centers. Join our annual conference to boost your knowledge and skills for fidelity implementation.

Facilitators are responsible for implementing the curriculum according to the 7-Step Fidelity™ (SSF™) Implementation framework, ensuring that lessons are interactive, accessible, and relevant to each family’s real-world experiences.  A Nurturing Families™ Certified Facilitator is an individual who has met all the requirements to implement the Nurturing Families™ Intervention.

Trainer Certification Requirements

Become a Certified Trainer

Nurturing Families Certified Trainers prepare professionals to become Facilitators. Trainers lead facilitator trainings, provide consultation, and may conduct agency, statewide, or national workshops and conferences.

Individuals must be certified Trainers for the Nurturing Families™ 2nd Edition program. All trainings and workshops conducted must be documented and submitted to the Nurturing Families Center to maintain active certification.

There are two levels of Training of Trainers (TOT) certification available through the Nurturing Families Center and interested individuals who meet requirements should contact the Nurturing Families Center to begin the certification process.

Training of Organizational Trainers (OT)

Organizational Trainers provide training only within their own agency of employment. This is the first level of certification for those who have completed the Training of Trainers (TOT) process and met all certification requirements.

They promote Nurturing Families in their agencies and communities through meetings, workshops, and conference presentations.

Training of State Trainers (ST)

State Trainers are qualified to train facilitators and organizational trainers within their state or region. This advanced level allows Trainers to provide consultation, lead statewide or multi-agency workshops, and support broader program implementation efforts.

All State Trainers must meet and maintain the certification standards established by the Nurturing Families Center.
